Ancillary Acts
Mitchel Cumming & Isabelle Sully
August 30 – September 16, 2018
KNULP, Sydney
The two-person exhibition Ancillary Acts sought to bring the supplementary elements of aesthetic practice to the fore by engaging with the architecture of theatre. Props, monologues, actors and spotlights were employed as a means to solidify the artists' individual positions around having institutionally critical practices in a sphere of work that is inherently staged—while at the same time having real material implications surrounding what it means to be public.
